The upper house of the Indian Parliament is voting on 19 seats in the Rajya Sabha. In these 19 seats of Rajya Sabha, four seats each from Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat, three each from Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, two from Jharkhand and one each from Manipur, Mizoram, and Meghalaya are being voted. Meanwhile, during the voting in Jharkhand’s capital Ranchi, the BJP MLA spoke of continuing support of two independent MLAs.

BJP MLA Biranchi Narayan said, “Independent MLAs Saryu Rai and Amit Yadav have continued their support to the BJP. We hope to get the support of two more Independent MLAs. With 32 votes we hope to send Deepak Prakash to Rajya Sabha.”Explain to you that voting is being held in two seats of Rajya Sabha from Jharkhand in Ranchi. Polling started at 9.00 am today in the Vidhan Sabha Bhawan and Bhushan Tirkey of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha was the first to cast his vote.

In the electoral fray for the two seats of Rajya Sabha, the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha president Shibu Soren, besides the main opposition BJP state president Deepak Prakash and Congress’s Shahzada Anwar are the candidates. Both the seats of the state have become vacant after completion of the term of Independent Parimal Nathwani and Premchandra Gupta of Rashtriya Janata Dal. According to the arithmetic of various parties, the election of JMM president Shibu Soren and BJP state president Deepak Prakash is considered almost certain.

Two seats are currently vacant in the 81-member Jharkhand assembly, so any candidate in the 79-member house will need at least 27 votes to win the election and the Assembly currently has 29 MLAs of the main ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha while the main opposition BJP has 26 MLAs in total.
